Cynthia began her career as a model New York. Her first contract was for five years with Wihelmina Models. This led to her appearance on the cover of Essence Magazine. Not only was Cynthia's first cover on Essence one of the top-selling covers ever published by the magazine and also the personal choice of the editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia was set to write her second cover, which put her career on the right track. When she moved to Paris Cynthia was seen strutting down her Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was a former resident of in the United States for nearly a year, re-emerged in New York City where she was highly sought-after. Advertising campaigns for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's as well as Macy's were her initial assignments. Elle's, Essence's and Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon came in. Cynthia was picked by Naomi Campbell over Naomi Campbell to play opposite Sandra Bernhadt for the film, "Without You, I'm nothing."
